Spencer B. Bell

"Brother Spencer" is a lifelong resident of Hartselle. Reared in both First Baptist and First Methodist churches in Hartselle, his faith is the foundation and formation of his life. In June 2018, he surrendered to God’s calling upon his life to full-time ministry at the age of 16 at Hartselle Camp Meeting.

Spencer has served as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since August 2022. He possesses a sincere passion for preaching God’s Word, leading others into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and encouraging the saints of God as he assists them in applying God’s Word to their lives. He remains committed to leading Mt. Zion to effectively fulfill the Great Commission--advancing the gospel to their neighbors and the nations. He desires to see Christians flourish in their faith, the lost come to faith in Christ, and the preaching of God's Word to remain an integral part of the ministries of the local church. His bold preaching, coupled with an easy-to-understand method of communication, assists young and mature Christians alike in the study and practical application of God's Word in their lives.

Prior to his service at Mt. Zion, he served as a traveling full-time evangelist for Spencer Bell Ministries, a non-profit organization whereby he preached revivals, harvest days, conferences, and international engagements, maintaining an itinerant schedule. He has also previously served as the Interim Pastor of Gum Springs Baptist Church in Somerville, and as staff evangelist at Mt. Zion Baptist Church prior to assuming the pastorate.

In addition to pastoring Mt. Zion, Spencer serves in various capacities in his community and throughout the convention, and as a member and advisor on several boards in religious and secular fields such as the Hartselle Historical Society, Terrell Industries, The Hartselle For Tomorrow Foundation, and is an active member and president of Hartselle Rotary Club.

He is a graduate of River City Christian Academy (High School Diploma), Calhoun Community College (A.S., General Studies), Athens State University (B.A., Religion), where he received the Acton E. Middlebrooks Award in Religion and Philosophy and the Outstanding Religion Major award, graduating at the top of his class, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received his Master of Theological Studies (MTS), and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he will graduate with his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Apologetics, Philosophy, and Leadership in May and will begin his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Christian Leadership at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary next Fall.

A lifelong University of Alabama athletics enthusiast, Spencer can often be found in the stands cheering on his beloved Alabama Football team. He also is a black coffee connoisseur, an avid reader, a writer, a musician, and a food enthusiast.
